We at Lab Services provide virtual machine environments tailored to different educational needs within the department. Whether you need individual VMs for project work or mass-deployed environments for teaching, our infrastructure supports your requirements.

Resources for Projects

For individual projects, we provide dedicated virtual machines to support your project work (WiPro/Wirtschaftsprojekt), Bachelor's and Master's theses. Learn how to request your own VM and what information you need to provide below.

Gather information and requirements
Before requesting a VM, prepare the following information:
Owner/User
Who will be responsible for and using the VM
Purpose
What the VM will be used for (project, thesis, etc.)
Start Date
When the VM needs to be available
End Date
When the VM can be decommissioned (max. 6 months)
Hostname
Your preferred VM hostname
Operating System
Which OS you need installed
Size/Flavor
Required compute resources (CPU, RAM)
Storage
Required disk space
Ports
Any specific ports that need to be used
Sensitive Data
Whether you intend to process sensitive data on the VM
Fill out Form
Click the “Request your VM” button below and complete all required fields in the Microsoft Forms application. Please be as specific as possible about your requirements to ensure we can efficiently process your request.
After filling out all required information in the form, submit your request. Our team will review the details and process your application.
Wait for Confirmation
Once your request has been reviewed and approved, you will receive a confirmation email with access details and instructions for your virtual machine.
Access and Use your VM
Follow the instructions provided to access your virtual environment. Your VM will be available for the requested period (maximum 6 months). For any technical assistance, contact our support team.
